My DIY Hair Treatment Was Sitting On My Kitchen Shelf – Homemade Hair Mayonnaise

My fine, once full and shiny hair, now dull, breaking and far from shiny hair has been falling out like crazy. I’m trying this. I know I wonn’t be allergic to any of these ingredients.

I recently took out my braids (I braided my hair after a failed attempt at going natural). I’m pretty sure it was the change from relaxed to natural and back to relaxed hair, but my hair was breaking bad (pun intended). Every time I pulled at the hair, it just came off and it broke my heart to little tiny pieces. Plus it was all limp and  frizzled. A sure recipe for disaster.

I had just finished relaxing my hair and my hair dresser  Lara said I would need to get a steam treatment @ an extra N2,500 ($16) to stop the breaking. Me ke? I wasn’t willing to spend another penny. Besides, I was pretty sure all she was gonna put in my hair was sitting pretty on my kitchen shelf. And off to my kitchen I went. Literally.

I had a little mayonnaise left; so I mixed it…

Joke of the day – Dogs rules for Christmas

New Bloggy Cat [NBC]

1. Be especially patient with your humans during this time. They may appear to be more stressed-out than usual and they will appreciate long comforting dog leans.

2. They may come home with large bags of things they call gifts. Do not assume that all the gifts are yours.

3. Be tolerant if your humans put decorations on you. They seem to get some special kind of pleasure out of seeing how you look with fake antlers.

4. They may bring a large tree into the house and set it up in a prominent place and cover it with lights and decorations. Bizarre as this may seem to you, it is an important ritual for your humans, so there are some things you need to know:

a. Don’t pee on the tree.

b. Don’t drink water in the container that holds the tree.

c. Mind your tail when you are…

Friendship Plus

friendship plus

We haven’t been to church in a very long time.  But church, in the actions of some members, has come to us.  And these people, for a large part, have come to this particular church since we haven’t been able to be there.  Beyond friendship, they have shown the brotherhood and sisterhood that is supposed to be among Christians.  As it says in James 2:14a-17:  “What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds?  Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, “Go I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?  In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”  (NIV)   So what does this “friendship plus” include?  Here are some personal experiences:

Sunday Tribute

In case you’re interested this is a tribute to Jose.

I knew a teen when he was in youth group at the church we both attended and where I was a volunteer leader.  A funny guy, a fun guy, a Christian guy who lived as an example of what that means.

This is a ministry camp where he went to work alongside his sister, brother-in-law and family.  He is one of the young people in this photo.

2 Timothy 1:7  For God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.       NIV

He loved too joke around with everyone, including our youth pastor, and children everywhere, living out the verse:

Psalm 14:7 They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.        NIV

He loved entertaining and teaching kids at the same time, as shown here as he wears a child’s breast plate…

No surgery!!

I just realized with whom I forgot to share the good news; you guys & gals.  Yes, the imagery I posted last is still correct, but the doctor now thinks, after yet another visit, my symptoms from the 90% compression fracture I suffered ( and from which I lost an inch in height) are improving.  Good, Good, Good.  However, I needed another super x-ray that can only be done in a hospital because of the cost of the machinery, outside facilities don’t spend that much dough, they send people to the hospital out-patient.  So now I wait for those results.  A bone density test showed what we all expected–bad osteoporosis.  No surprise to anyone.  You can’t be on as much daily prednisone and intravenous steroids when I’ve been hospitalized with exacerbation of my asthma and not end up with brittle bones.  So now an endocrinologist is on my list.  As…

Anyone Else Have This??

Hi all, at least I hope there’s still someone out there who has hung in.  If so you are undoubtedly shocked to see a post; it’s been a long time.  Wish I could say it’s been a fun time.  What seems like a lifetime ago I wrote about a fall and changed plans.  Well, that fall is still haunting me.

At this point I’ll put in the notice that if medically inspired posts, questions and maybe pictures aren’t your cup of tea, you can go and I understand.  sniff–sniff

I don’t even like the name of the “major surgery” or the description of it that the orthopedic surgeon gave me.  I’m more likely to cry over emotional stuff than physical pain–hey I am a girl (not a young girl but still…)  I know thinking about my son and the impact on him and the hubs made me cry.

I think…
